Nadia Verrelli
Dr. Nadia Verrelli is an educator and activist with a deep understanding of Canadian government and a passion for defending society’s most vulnerable people. She is standing with Jagmeet Singh and the NDP team to build a fairer and more affordable Canada and a more hopeful future that we can all look forward to.
Nadia is a daughter to working class Italian immigrants. She is a voice championing diversity, who believes in building communities where everyone is included and gets to play their part. She is a strong advocate for reconciliation with Indigenous peoples and believes Canada must reckon with its past to move forward into a more equal and secure future.
Her great passion is for defending the most vulnerable. She is a firm believer that the government’s job is to provide the services that its least privileged citizens need. As such, she is a champion of affordable pharmacare, childcare, and homecare.
Nadia’s academic work focuses on Canadian federalism and constitutionalism – so she really understands how our government works and how meaningful change can be made. She earned her PhD at Carleton University and is currently an Associate Director at the Institute of Intergovernmental Relations, Queen’s University and a Law and Justice professor at Laurentian University.
Now, Nadia is determined to take her expertise and her passion to Ottawa and start working for you. The NDP has helped millions of Canadians access the services they need. Nadia knows there is much more work to do, and she is ready to advocate for policies that help everyday Canadians –pharmacare, dental care, affordable housing, paid sick leave, and action on climate change.
